Send yourself a test delivery

A vault is the one product you cannot afford to find out about on the day. Open any vault and press Send a test, and we build the delivery exactly as your recipients would receive it and send that to the email address on your account.

What you get

• The same message, formatted the same way.
• The same attachments, decrypted, in their original format.
• The same download link for anything too large to attach, addressed to you.
• A banner at the top saying it is a test, so there is no chance of confusing the two.

What it does not do

Nothing else changes. Your recipients are sent nothing and are told nothing. The vault is not delivered, its status does not change, its countdown does not move and its reminders are untouched. A test is recorded in your audit log and that is the only trace it leaves.

A test works on a paused vault as well as an armed one, so you can rehearse a draft before you ever arm it.

The download link in a test

If the vault holds files too large to attach, the test email carries a working download link addressed to you rather than to a recipient. It expires after 24 hours instead of the usual 90 days, so a rehearsal never leaves a live link to your files sitting in an inbox.

What to look for

1. Did it arrive at all, or did it land in spam? That is the single most common delivery failure, and this is how you find out before it matters.
2. Do the first two lines explain who you are and why this is arriving? Read them as though you did not know.
3. Are the right files there, and do they open?
4. If there is a download link, follow it and confirm the address. That is exactly what your recipient will have to do.

How often you can do it

Five tests an hour across your account. Real files are attached and really sent every time, so the limit keeps a stuck button from mailing a gigabyte to yourself.

Worth doing twice

Once when you first build the vault, and again any time you change the message, the files or the recipients. Vaults sit untouched for years; a test costs a minute and answers the only question that matters.
