Upgrade, downgrade or switch billing period
How to change plan, when the change takes effect, how proration works, and how to apply a coupon.
Changing plan
- Go to Subscription.
- Choose the plan and whether you want monthly or annual.
- You are taken to Stripe's checkout to enter card details.
- On success you return here and the new plan is active.
Card details are entered on Stripe's own pages and are never seen by this site. We hold a customer reference and nothing else.
When it takes effect
Upgrades apply immediately. The extra storage and vault allowance are available the moment payment succeeds, and billing is prorated so you only pay the difference for the remainder of the period you have already bought.
Downgrades apply at the end of the period you have paid for. You keep what you paid for until then; nothing is lost early.
Monthly to annual
Treated as an upgrade: immediate, prorated against what is left of the current month.
Coupons
Enter the code in the coupon box before going to checkout. Valid codes show the reduced amount before you pay, so if the total has not changed the code has not applied and it is worth checking it before continuing.
Lifetime
A one off payment, not a subscription. Buying it cancels any running subscription you have, so you are not paying both. There is nothing to renew afterwards.
If the payment fails
Stripe retries a failed renewal over several days and emails you each time. Your plan stays active throughout. If every retry fails, the subscription lapses and the account moves to Free — see what happens when you downgrade, which is less dramatic than it sounds but does have one consequence worth knowing about.
